Gemma // Ryland’s Farmhouse // July 2024

“We had the best day and I'm still totally obsessed with the dress!!!”

Your Name?

Gemma

What is the name of your wedding venue?

Ryland’s Farmhouse

Name of your wedding dress boutique?

130 Atelier

Name of your dress designer and style?

Garance - Watters

Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted?

I knew I wanted something fairly plain, that felt like me.

How long did you spend shopping for your wedding dress? How many months out from your wedding date when you "said yes to the dress"?

About 4 months searching and I picked my dress about 14 months before my wedding.

Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted?

Not initially. I searched online for hours and hours and eventually saw the dress online, I knew then that I needed to try it.

How did you find out about your boutique?

I live in Congleton, so I looked locally.

What made you decide to go with the boutique you did?

I went to the shop specifically to try that dress on, but once I got there, before even seeing the dress, I knew that the 130 was something special and truly different to the other shop I'd been to.

How did your boutique make you feel special?

All of the little touches Sophie made for not only my first visit, but every visit I made to the shop, she went above and beyond. I was dreading wedding dress shopping, but Sophie made me feel so at ease and relaxed from the moment I walked into the shop.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?

Getting to try on so many pretty dresses!! Who wouldn't love that.

Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different?

I was dreading shopping for my dress, I thought I'd never find what I was looking for. But after the first few dresses I relaxed into the experience and now wish I could do it all over again.

How many other shops did you visit?

Just 1 other

Can you tell us why you were put off buying your dress from another boutique?

At the other shop, I felt like just one out of a number of people they were seeing at the same time and I felt like I was getting pressured into buying a dress that they knew wasn't right. Whereas at 130, Sophie literally made me feel like the only person that mattered, I didn't feel any pressure at all and it just made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping?

Make sure you visit Sophie!! Go with an open mind and just try to enjoy the experience.

Any additional advice about planning / wedding day?

Don't sweat the small stuff, you really won't care on the day. Try to enjoy the planning, you'll be sad once it's all over!!
