Your name?

Amanda

What is the name of your wedding venue?

Low Wood Bay

Name of your wedding dress boutique?

130 Atelier

Name of your dress designer and style?

Gaia Bridal - Adie

Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted?

In some ways - I was looking for a dress with long sleeves to cover my arms. I went for flutter sleeves in the end which still gave me some coverage and felt just right for my June wedding.

Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted?

No not until I started looking and then I fell in love with Gaia's style.

What made you decide to go with the boutique you did?

The dresses and prices really suited my style and budget.

How did your boutique make you feel special?

Sophie made the experience really special. My name was on the door when I arrived and there was rose lemonade and love hearts for me, my Mum and Auntie. Sophie had sent me a questionnaire before my appointment and listened to what I wanted and didn't want in terms of styles and budget and gave me good advice. I didn't feel rushed and had plenty of time to try on different styles.

How did you find out about your boutique?

I had found a Gaia dress I wanted to try and looked at stockists on their website. I didn't end up choosing that style but stuck with Gaia.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?

I enjoyed spending time with my mum looking at different dresses and having days out visiting boutiques. It was lovely when I found the one and I felt beautiful in it.

Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different?

I did find it quite overwhelming, there's so much choice and different price points.

How many other shops did you visit?

4 other shops.

Can you tell us about any experiences you had or why you were put off buying your dress from another boutique

At one boutique, I got asked if I was planning to lose weight and to get on with it! I definitely didn't buy anything there. Also people not listening to what I wanted and trying styles which didn't suit me which was really disheartening.

What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping?

Don't feel pressured into buying a dress on the spot if you're not sure. It's a massive decision and you want to get it right. Ask someone to take photos so you can see what it looks like from the back as well.

Any additional advice about planning / wedding day?

Just enjoy every moment, you spend so long planning and the day just goes so fast. Spend time with your guests dancing and having fun and think of what photos you would like your photographer to take.
