Your Name
Izzi
What is the name of your wedding venue?
Didsbury House Hotel
Name of your wedding dress boutique?
130 Atelier of course!
Name of your dress designer and style?
Amy Mair’s Milan with an added flutter sleeve!
Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted?
I knew I wanted sleeves and I thought I’d go for an A-line style.
Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted?
Nope, I was totally open and loved exploring different options.
How did you find out about your boutique?
We met Sophie at a wedding open day in Liverpool. She was lovely and I was able to have a peek at the rails and saw lots of things I liked the look of.
What made you decide to go with the boutique you did?
Sophie was so friendly and welcoming, the fact 130 stocks a wide range of styles and designers was great too so I was keen to book in!
How did your boutique make you feel special?
Sophie is incredible, she totally put me at ease when I was feeling nervous about the experience. The boutique is relaxed and welcoming too.
What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?
I loved filling out the questionnaire and trusting Sophie to pick using my answers and her knowledge. I found sifting through rails solo at other boutiques overwhelming so this method completely worked for me.
Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different?
I was dreading it in the build up and a couple of meh experiences at other boutiques was leaving me wobbly. Until I walked in 130 that is. Sophie encouraged me to pick Milan as that’s what my heart was crying out for rather than playing it safe!
How many other shops did you visit?
2 other boutiques.
Can you tell us about any experiences you had or why you were put off buying your dress from another boutique?
The range of sample sizes didn’t work for me as a mid sized girl. I was never going to commit to something I’d been squeezed into and had to use a lots of imagination for.
What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping?
As I was very nervous, I did all my first appointments alone so I could really chat with the boutique owners to understand what worked for my body type. I’d definitely recommend even doing one solo appointment. Also trust your gut! You want to feel like the absolute best version of yourself, don’t play it safe!
Any additional advice about planning / wedding day?
It’s yours and your fiancé’s day. Don’t worry about pleasing other people, if you’re having a good time then everyone else will too.
Also create a calm vibe for the morning with your closest friends and family around who will keep that going. This really helped set the tone and settle my nerves!
