130 Atelier
Name of your dress designer and style? Willowby by Watters - Imari
Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted?
I didn’t have a clue! I just knew I wanted to feel the best version of myself! Being quite body conscious I was nervous to start looking but open to any style as long as it made me look and feel good!
Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted?
No idea! I just knew I wanted it to be unique and match me
How did you find out about your boutique?
Oh the best question! I was lucky enough to be at university the same time as Sophie, and then have been friends on Instagram ever since. Sophie opened her boutique just before I started looking for my dress so it felt like fate that Sophie could help me find my dress! And she found my dream dress!
What made you decide to go with the boutique you did?
I had a couple of places booked even after I had visited 130. But nothing compared to the beauty of the boutique and how the boutique, and in particular how Sophie, made me feel. I had seen posts on social media that said where you get your dress from and the experience you have and how they make you feel is so important, and nothing is more true!
How did your boutique make you feel special?
Every detail about interacting with Sophie, before, during and even after collecting my dress made me feel so special! The questionnaire that Sophie sent through before my first appointment allowed me to give Sophie an insight into what I might be looking for so then the sample she picked already on the right lines. My name on the door, making my family and friends feel welcome, giving me pep talks and hyping me up in the dressing room, giving me time to process everything and supporting me in making the right choice for me and nobody else. Sophie’s knowledge of how the dresses could be altered to suit and fit me even better, the accessories, the pink lemonade… I could go on! I have never felt so special.
What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?
Oh gosh! Can I say all of it? But if I had to choose, the way that Sophie allowed me and my mum to have such a special and intimate time together trying on wedding dresses and making memories together is something I will treasure forever.
Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different?
Totally different! Being the mid size girly that I am, I was worried I would be made to feel too big, too short, and not not worthy of these beautiful gowns. But I felt empowered, beautiful and allowed to be me.
How many other shops did you visit?
Two.
What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping?
Be open minded! Try all the styles on so you know what actually suits you rather that just going with what you think will suit you. Take on board other people’s opinions, but make the right choice for you. It’s your dress, your day and your memories!
Any additional advice about planning / wedding day?
Just enjoy it all! Because it’s gone in a flash! Just go with the flow on the day, things will not go the way you planned and people will always want their say. Let it all wash over you. People are right when they say ‘it’s just one day’ but it will be the best day of your life! You are marrying your best friend and that’s all that matters!
