Sumire // August 23 // Hedsor House

Sumire and Andrew got married on the 14.8.23 (130 Atelier’s business birthday!)

Sumire, what is the name of your wedding venue? Hedsor House

Name of your wedding dress boutique? 130 Atelier

Name of your dress designer and style? Marjaan / Watters & Naya / ByWatters

Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted? Yes. I wanted an A-line dress with some laces & floral appliques. The lace and floral designs by Watters were exactly what I had in mind!

Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted? Yes. I had my eye on Watters ever since I saw them on social media.

How did you find out about your boutique? I searched for the nearest boutique that carried the Watters Collection. What made you decide to go with the boutique you did? When I followed 130 Atelier on Instagram, Sophie sent me a DM right away. I was surprised but also felt very comfortable because I was a bit nervous about the whole dress shopping process. I booked an appointment straight away!

How did your boutique make you feel special? Sophie always responded really quickly to all my messages, and every time I visited the boutique, both she and her mum welcomed me warmly. The lovely atmosphere that they have always made me feel at ease.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience? Sophie and her mum :) And of course, I found the most beautiful dress that I had ever dreamed of! But finding it at a boutique owned by someone so exceptional made the experience truly special. Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different? To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. I'm Japanese, and in my country people rarely purchase their wedding dresses. They usually rent them from the wedding venue. I had a few dresses in mind before visiting the boutique, and I honestly thought I would make my decision that day. However, after trying on all the dresses, I couldn't make up my mind entirely. I felt a bit lost but then Sophie messaged me about a new collection that Watters had just released, and I immediately fell in love with it. After trying on Marjaan, I knew it was "the one"! It took longer than I had expected, but it was definitely worth it.

What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping? Book an appointment with 130 Atelier! I would recommend not to compromise too. If you try on the dress and it doesn't make you feel "amazing", take your time and continue looking. There is a dress out there that will make you feel like the best version of yourself, and remember that comfort is also key!

Any additional advice about planning / wedding day? Make a list of the things you absolutely don't want to miss, especially the moments and photos that are a must-have. Share this list with your suppliers and the bridal party. You won't have the time or emotional space to think about these things on the day itself, so leave them to others if possible.
