Your Name?

Laura

What is the name of your wedding venue?

The Courtyard Venue, Oswestry

Name of your wedding dress boutique?

130 Atelier

Name of your dress designer and style?

Wtoo by Watters - Clarissa + sparkly topper

Before you started shopping for your dress, did you have an idea of the type or style of gown you wanted?

Yes! I knew I wanted simple but still special enough to be a wedding dress. I kept using the words ‘minimalist Princess’ to describe what I wanted. But I also wanted to try lots of different styles to make sure I wasn’t missing out on anything!

How long did you spend shopping for your wedding dress? How many months out from your wedding date when you "said yes to the dress"?

I probably tried on about 10 dresses in total. I liked all of them so it made the decision very hard! In the end I chose my dress about 8 months before wedding.

Did you have an idea of the wedding dress designer / label you wanted?

I was always drawn to Wtoo by Watters as the dresses seemed to match that ‘Minimalist princess’ vibe. The dresses didn’t look like ones I’d seen anywhere else.

How did you find out about your boutique?

I searched for places that stocked Wtoo and then found that 130 Atelier also stocked many other designers I liked so I made my appointment straight away!

What made you decide to go with the boutique you did?

There were so many great reviews online and the dresses on their Instagram feed matched my vibe perfectly.

How did your boutique make you feel special?

It was lovely to find out that Sophie from 130 Atelier went to the same University as me! Instantly it felt like I was talking to a person who really cared rather than just a big business. She is very personable and helps you to feel like you are valued and special.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding dress shopping experience?

I loved going through the rails with the knowledge that I could actually try anything on! You think about that moment so much growing up, to actually be faced with the prospect of playing dress up in these fantastic dresses is so exciting.

Was the experience of shopping for your wedding dress as you expected, or was it something totally different?

I wasn’t expecting to like so many of them! I think I loved 9/10 of the dresses I tried on. I thought there would be a clear ‘one’ but I think I had about 6 ‘the ones’.

How many other shops did you visit?

2

What is your advice to other brides who are about to start dress shopping?

Go with an open mind. You have the chance to try on dresses that you would never ever wear in every day life so try on every style you can! Who knows? You might find ‘the one’ and it’s something you never would have predicted beforehand.

Any additional advice about planning / wedding day?

No matter how much money you spend, you can’t buy a good time. You and your partner are the people who set the mood. If you’re having a great time, it spreads. Don’t feel like you have to do anything a certain way because that’s how you’ve always seen weddings done in the past. Make it personal to you. Do whatever YOU want to do. There is no ‘right way’ to do a wedding. You don’t want your wedding to feel like any other couple could come in and have the same day, it should be personal. Have fun, relax, enjoy yourself. No one remembers how expensive the centre pieces were but everyone remembers how they felt.
